Healey brings both personal and lived expertise to the board as a survivor of complex trauma and adoptive mother to a child with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). With firsthand understanding of the pain, confusion, and isolation that often accompany attachment wounds, she is also a fierce believer in the hope and healing made possible through healthy, therapeutic relationships. Her commitment to this work is deeply rooted in her desire to “step into the beautiful mess” of our communities—bringing light to dark places, walking alongside those who are hurting, and creating space for connection, understanding, and restoration. Healey’s insight, passion, and authenticity are powerful assets in guiding the mission and heart of the organization.

As the daughter of a therapist with over 30 years of experience, Shaina was introduced early to the world of mental health care. Growing up working in her mother’s private practice, she gained firsthand insight into both the transformative power of therapy and the behind-the-scenes operations that make quality care possible.
Shaina holds a Bachelor of Science in Practical Theology from Southeastern University, as well as a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies: Religion and a Master of Divinity in Theology from Liberty University. Her background includes years of work in church planting, where she helped launch and support new churches in Raleigh, NC, and Philadelphia, PA.
In 2021, Shaina returned to her home state of Georgia and joined the Discovery Counseling family. Over the past four years as Practice Manager, she has played a pivotal role in launching three specialty clinics and expanding access to mental health services in Coweta, Fayette, and Muscogee Counties.
Shaina’s unique blend of administrative expertise, systems thinking, and deep compassion fuels her passion for grassroots movements and community transformation. A natural helper with a heart for service, she is honored to serve on the board of Discovery Hope, where she works to ensure that individuals and families can access the tools they need for lasting, meaningful healing.
Sarah brings a deep personal and professional commitment to expanding access to quality mental health care for underserved populations. Having grown up in the foster care system, she experienced firsthand the gaps in care—particularly the limited availability of providers willing to accept insurance and the lack of trauma-informed support for those most at risk.
Sarah earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business from Emory University and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. From 2014 to 2021, she served in various program and executive roles within non-profit residential childcare services, including group homes, runaway and homeless youth programs, and independent living programs. During this time, she saw the toll high turnover and inadequate training take on both staff and the vulnerable clients they serve.
In 2021, Sarah transitioned to clinical work, joining Discovery Connections in Fayetteville as an associate licensed therapist. There, she focused on trauma and attachment, serving foster and adoptive families and completing advanced training in those areas. After earning her LPC, Sarah founded Discovery Connections Columbus in 2022 to expand access to care in the Columbus, GA region.
Sarah contributes to Discovery Hope with a unique combination of lived experience, nonprofit leadership, and clinical expertise. She is honored to serve on the board and is passionate about the organization’s mission to reduce human suffering through psychotherapy and mental health care.
